Departure was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) promoted by Pro Wrestling Noah. The event took place on August 6, 2017, Tokyo at the Korakuen Hall and was the seventh annual event under the Departure.

Departure (2017) featured eight professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.

The event featured a match for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, where Taiji Ishimori would defend against YO-HEY. On June 25 at the Great Voyage 2017 in Fukushima, Ishimori defeated HAYATA to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship. After the match, HAYATA'S RATEL'S stablemate YO-HEY challenged Ishimori to a title match for his GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship. In the past, at the beginning of 2017 in February Ishimori and his tag team partner Hi69 defeated HAYATA and YO-HEY to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. Later YO-HEY and HAYATA would defeat Ishimori and Hi69 to win the Global Junior Heavyweight Tag League.

The event also included a singles match between Go Shiozaki and Maybach Taniguchi. The two were former GHC Tag Team Champions. After the two lost the titles to Kenoh and Masa Kitamiya on January 21, Taniguchi went on to form a partnership with Naomichi Marufuji named Maketa Ra Owari and Shiozaki with Atsushi Kotoge, respectively. The two teams faced each other in the finals of the Global Tag League, where Taniguchi and Marufuji defeated Shiozaki and Kotoge. After the match, Shiozaki attacked Taniguchi who was claiming the victory on Shiozaki. Taniguchi and Shiozaki faced off Taniguchi in two occasions on May 23 and on July 27 with both matches having the same results ending in a Double Knockout. NOAH then scheduled a rematch between the two.

The event also included another singles match between Yoshinari Ogawa and Masao Inoue. After Inoue returned to NOAH, Inoue and Ogawa faced each in multiple tag teams matches with Ogawa pinning Inoue every time they faced each other. NOAH then booked a match between the two at the Departure.

The full card of the event was announced on July 31, including the debut of the son of Tatsumi Fujinami, LEONA.
