Doutonbori Pro Wrestling (道頓堀プロレス Dōtonbori puroresu) is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion, founded in July 2013 by Kuuga and a couple other former Osaka Pro Wrestling wrestlers who left Osaka Pro to form their own promotion based in Osaka, Japan.
History[]
Doutonbori Pro Wrestling was formed in the summer of 2013, after Kuuga and a couple other Osaka Pro Wrestling wrestlers including Hideyoshi, Masamune, Orochi and HAYATA left Osaka Pro to form their own promotion based in Osaka, Japan. Doutonbori then announced that they were moving from the Osaka Minami Move Arena to the Doutonbori Arena and the owners of the company would be the Doutonbori Entertainment System.
On November 15, 2013 announced the creation of their own tag team tournament the Dotonbori Saikyou Tag King Tournament which was dubbed as the First Dotonbori Tag King Decision League. Then the promotion mainly focussed on the feud between the heel stable JOKER and face stable Super Sonic. On July, 2014 Doutonbori announced their own singles tournament the Dotonbori Saikyou Otoko Tournament being also dubbed as the First Dotonbori Saikyou Otoko Tournament. This led the announcement that the winner of the tournament would be crown the first WDW Champion. This followed up in August with Doutonbori announcing their second active title the WDW Tag Team Championship, creating in the proccess their own title governing body, the Wrestling Doutonbori World (WDW) system.
On November 7, 2016 Doutonbori announced the creation of their third active title their own comedy title the WDWW Championship. In March, 2017 Doutonbori announced a working relationship with Big Japan Pro Wrestling, which led BJW wrestlers working on Doutonbori events and Doutonbori wrestlers working on BJW events.
