The Gate of Anniversary was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event promoted by Dragon Gate (DG). The event took place on March 22, 2009, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. This was the only Dragon Gate event promoted in the Ryogoku Kokugikan. The event was also available in Japanese commentaries and was broadcasted live at TV Tokyo and as a pay-per-view (PPV).

The show was headlined by Naruki Doi defending the Open The Dream Gate Championship against New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Koji Kanemoto. Another title match for the show featured Masato Yoshino defending the Open The Brave Gate Championship against CIMA.

Two other title matches also took place on the show with WARRIORS-5 (Gamma and Susumu Yokosuka) defending the Open The Twin Gate Championship against Real Hazard (Genki Horiguchi and Ryo Saito), and KAMIKAZE (Shingo Takagi, Dragon Kid and Taku Iwasa) defending the Open The Triangle Gate Championship against WORLD-1 (BxB Hulk, Naoki Tanizaki and PAC) and Real Hazard (Kenichiro Arai, YAMATO and Yasushi Kanda) in a three-way match. The event also featured the "Hollywood" Stalker Ichikawa Bosou 10 match series. All in all, the event featured eight matches.

Background[]

The Gate of Anniversary aired in Japan at TV Tokyo and as a pay-per-view with Japanese language commentaries. The Japanese commentary was provided by Katsuya Ichikawa. The event also aired on tape delay on Japanese TV Gaora Sports to be launched in Dragon Gate's ~ Infinity ~ Series.

Wrestlers portrayed heroes or villains as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.
