Wrestlers portray villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

The Gate of Destiny (2017) was main evented by Masaaki Mochizuki defending the Open The Dream Gate Championship against Susumu Yokosuka. This was the second time that the two had met together inside the ring, despite their paths crossed.
