Jake Lee, who defended the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Takashi Sugiura.
The Green Journey in Nagoya 2023 was main evented by Jake Lee defending the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Takashi Sugiura. On May 14, Good Looking Guys faced Kaito Kiyomiya, Takashi Sugiura, Atsushi Kotoge and Seiki Yoshioka in a winning effort. Afterwards, while Sugiura was leaving and almost backstage, Lee announced that the next challenger for his title would be Sugiura, who was surprised by Lee's announcement. Backstage, Sugiura said he was honored to be nominated, as he was "not the most popular" wrestler. On May 21, following a eight-man tag team match, a fight broke out between Sugiura and Lee. Sugiura then baited Lee with the GHC Heavyweight Championship belt, before handing it back to him, with Lee losing his temper as the two had to be separated.
Also on May 14, Real (Saxon Huxley, Timothy Thatcher and Hideki Suzuki) faced Masa Kitamiya, Daiki Inaba and Yoshiki Inamura in a losing effort. Afterwards, The Tough (Kitamiya and Inamura) challenged Huxley and Thatcher to a title match for the GHC Tag Team Championship. This caused Huxley and Thatcher to attacked the challengers, setting the title match at Green Journey in Nagoya.
On May 21, after HAYATA was attacked by Stinger, whom he had been recently feuding with, Dante Leon removed the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship belt, so they couldn't hit HAYATA with it, challenging him to a title match.
