The KO-D Tag Team Championship is the top tag team title DDT Pro-Wrestling (DDT) promotion. "KO-D" is the acronym of DDT's governing body, the King of DDT. The title was introduced on June 2, 2001, after Nosawa and Takashi Sasaki defeated Starman and Vertigo at CMLL event. Because of its origin the title is sometimes labelled as a combined certified championship between DDT and CMLL being named the CMLL Certified KO-D Tag Team Championship. However the belts have never been defended outside of DDT since its creation, being named the KO-D Tag Team Championship.
Overview[]
Throughout the history of the championship, the title was vacated eight times due to an inability to participate in title defenses. When a wrestler has been injured or unable to compete for other reasons, tournaments have been held to determine the new champion.
The titles, when they were created, were known as the CMLL Certified KO-D Tag Team Championship because of its origin the title is sometimes labeled as a combined certified championship between DDT and CMLL. However the belts have never been defended outside of DDT since its creation, being named the KO-D Tag Team Championship.
In February 2020, Yuki Ueno and Naomi Yoshimura were given a second version of the titles, replacing the first version.
