Kosei Fujita (藤田 晃生 Fujita Kōsei, born July 14, 2002 in Niihama, Ehime, Japan) is a Japanese professional wrestler currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is part of the TMDK stable. He made his debut for NJPW on August 24, 2021, and worked as a "Young Lion" over the following three years.
Fujita joined NJPW in August 2021 as a "young lion". He began teaming with Zack Sabre Jr. in August 2022, and TMDK in January 2024, after being recruited by Sabre, subsquently graduating from his young lion status the following August, being repackaged as the "Japanese Young Punk", complete with a new look and a new persona, winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship in January 2025.
Early life[]
Fujita started training amateur wrestling for three years in high school and won the championship of his category.
Professional wrestling career[]
New Japan Pro-Wrestling (2021–Present)[]
In December 2020, Fujita earned a training spot in the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) dojo, after the passing an introductory test. He entered the dojo in April 2021. After training four months in the dojo, Fujita made his professional wrestling debut on August 24, facing fellow young lion Ryohei Oiwa in a match, which ended in a draw. As is customary for most professional wrestlers and various young lions, Fujita spent most of his matches losing to other, more experienced wrestlers, which would help put over other wrestlers while at the same time give Fujita some in-ring, televised, experience. In March 2022, Fujita took part in the 2022 New Japan Cup, losing in the second round to Yoshi-Hashi. On July 9, Fujita made his first appearance outside of NJPW, featuring in a All Japan Pro Wrestling event, where he and Tiger Mask defeated Dan Tamura and Ryo Inoue. On August 10, Fujita helped Zack Sabre Jr. win his 2022 G1 Climax block match against EVIL, after he disguised himself as Sabre to serve as decoy to distract EVIL to allow Sabre to win. Fujita repeated the same trick alongside Ryohei Oiwa, which allowed Sabre defeat EVIL in a rematch on November 5, during the semifinals of the NJPW World Television Championship tournament. On January 5, at New Year Dash!, with TMDK needing a fourth member, Sabre pulled Fujita from ringside, took off his Young Lion garb, and gave him a TMDK shirt, becoming the newest member of the stable.
In August 2023, during the 2023 G1 Climax, Fujita took on the role of manager for fellow TMDK members during their matches, accompanying them to the ring during their entrance and appearing at ringside. On occasions, he would offer TMDK-branded towels to them during the match or briefly interfere if his opponent was attempting to cheat or had their own manager trying to interfere. On August 13, he declared that he graduated from his Young Lion stauts, being repackaged shortly after, as "Japanese Young Punk", with a complete with a new look and a new persona. From October 21 to November 2, Fujita and TMDK stablemate Robbie Eagles took part in the 2023 Super Jr. Tag League, finishing the tournament with a record four wins and five losses, failing to advance to the finals of the tournament.
On January 5, 2024 at New Year Dash, TMDK faced Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii in a winning effort. Afterwards, Fujita, who claimed he was no longer a young lion, challenged Okada, Ishii and Hiroshi Tanahashi to a title match for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship. However, Okada proclaimed that Fujita wasn't ready. Despite this, Fujita asked NJPW President Tanahashi to make the match happen. Despite putting an impressive performance, Fujita, and his TMDK stablemates Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste unsucessfully challenged Okada, Ishii and Tanahashi to a title match for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship. On March 29, at MLW's War Chamber pay-per view, Fujita unsuccessfully challenged Matt Riddle for the NJPW World Television Championship. On April 6, at Sakura Genesis, after Sho retained the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Yoh, Fujita and DOUKI confronted Sho, and challenged him to a title match. In response, Sho refused both men's challenge leading Fujita to attack him, before Fujita and DOUKI confronted each other, with Fujita holding the title belt in his hand. Shorlty after, Sho declared the winner between the two could challenge him in a title match. On April 14 at Wrestling World, Fujita failed to defeat DOUKI to become the number one contender to the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. In May, Fujita took part in the 2024 Best of the Super Juniors, finishing the tournament with a record of three wins and six losses, failing to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.
From October 24 to November 2, Fujita and Eagles took part in the 2024 Super Jr. Tag League, finishing the tournament with a record four wins and one losses, advancing to the finals of the tournament. On November 4 at Power Struggle, Fujita and Eagles defeated Francesco Akira and TJP in the finals to win the 2024 Super Jr. Tag League. On January 4, 2025 at Wrestle Kingdom 19 in Tokyo Dome, Fujita and Eagles won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship by defeating Intergalactic Jet Setters (KUSHIDA and Kevin Knight), Catch 2/2 (TJP and Francesco Akira), and Bullet Club War Dogs (Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney) in a tokyo terror ladder match.
