Los Perros del Mal de Japón (ロス・ペロス・デル・マール・デ・ハポン Rosu Perosu deru Māru de Hapon) (Spanish for "The Evil Dogs of Japan") (PMJ) was a professional wrestling stable in the Dragon Gate (DG) and Pro Wrestling NOAH (NOAH) promotions.
The group was formed originally in Pro Wrestling NOAH (NOAH) during the year of 2021 by then-Sugiura-gun member Nosawa Rongai, Ikuto Hidaka, Eita, Kotaro Suzuki, and YO-HEY, upon their rivalry with Stinger, which they subsequently named Los Perros del Mal de Japón, as a tribute of the Los Perros del Mal stable, based in the Mexican Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion. Before the end of the year, Los Perros del Mal de Japón won their first title with Eita and Rongai holding the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. At the start of 2022, the stable was joined by Mexican members El Texano Jr. and Super Crazy, before conquering all of Noah's junior heavyweight championships, with Eita holding the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship. The stable was officially disbanded in November 2022.
As part of a working relationship between NOAH and Dragon Gate (DG), Los Perros del Mal de Jápon, began appearing for Dragon Gate, before leaving NOAH for the promotion in May 2022, after Eita, Rongai and Suzuki won the Open The Triangle Gate Championship, with the remaining members leaving the stable. However, later that month, the stable returned to NOAH, losing the Open The Triangle Gate Championship a month later.
Background[]
In 2013 as part of a working relationships between Toryumon Mexico and International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) in Mexico, DOUKI began working for both promotions and extensively in the Mexican independent circuit. He later formed a team with Daisuke Hanaoka named Los Japoneses del Mal as an homage to the Mexican stable Los Perros del Mal stable.
Around the same time in July 2013, Eita joined the main Los Perros del Mal stable in AAA, where he represented the stable during his short stint with the promotion, before returning to Dragon Gate, ending his Mexican excursion. The concept of the Los Perros del Mal stable became popular with the Japanese wrestlers, who worked in the Mexican Independent circuit, with DOUKI, Hanaoka and the Tokyo Gurentai stable composed by Nosawa Rongai, Mazada and Fujita, wearing the stable's merchandise, despite not being officially affiliated with the stable.
History[]
Formation (2021)[]
In October 2020, Kotaro Suzuki was kicked out of Stinger, following a disagreement with his former stablemates HAYATA and Yoshinari Ogawa. Subsequently, Suzuki began feuding with his previous stablemates, alongside a new partner Selvaje de Oriente. Following a match, where Suzuki and Oriente were attacked by Stinger, Nosawa Rongai and a mystery partner, who was wearing a mask being nicknamed the "Part Time Guy", proposed an alliance with Suzuki and Oriente, only to be rejected. However, on December 6 at Noah the Best, during a GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship title defense, Oriente turned on Suzuki, revealing himself to be Yuya Susumu, joining Stinger in the process. Afterwards, Suzuki decided to allign himself with Rongai and his mystery partner, who was later revealed to be former Pro Wrestling ZERO1 wrestler Ikuto Hidaka. Over the following months, the trio continued his feud with Stinger, while also being joined by YO-HEY in May 2021, following the disbanding Full Throttle. The following month, Dragon Gate wrestler Eita, who had previous experience working in Mexican wrestling promotions and had met Rongai in 2017, was revealed to be the newest member of the group.
Championship pursuits and expansion (2021–2022)[]
On June 27, at Muta The World, the group was subsequently dubbed the "Los Perros del Mal de Japon", as a tribute of the Mexican Los Perros del Mal stable. Rongai later revealed that one of fouding members the Los Perros del Mal stable, Perro Aguayo Jr.'s cousin Kahn del Mal had granted him permission to use the stable's name. On October 10, Eita and Rongai defeated Atsushi Kotoge and Hajime Ohara to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. They lost the titles to HAYATA and Yoshinari Ogawa on November 28 at Noah the Best.
On January 5, 2022 at Reboot, Mexican wrestler Super Crazy made his return to NOAH as the newest member of the stable. Later that month, Los Perros del Mal de Japon took part in NOAH's junior heavyweight's sub-brand N Innovation U-Cup, finishing the tournament with a record of one win, one draw and three losses, failling to advance to finals of the tournament. On January 8 at Wrestle Kingdom 16, Los Perros del Mal de Japon made their debut in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), losing to Suzuki-gun (DOUKI and El Desperado). On February 11, during a match between Los Perros del Mal de Japon and Stinger, YO-HEY accidentally attacked Rongai, causing Stinger to win the match. Afterwards, Los Perros del Mal de Japon turned on YO-HEY, whose sympathetic nature was not suitable to the stable, kicking him out of the group, which in turn, led Rongai to tease new member for Los Perros del Mal de Japon. On March 13 at Great Voyage in Yokohama, Eita defeated Daisuke Harada to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, meaning that Los Perros del Mal de Japon had conquered all two of Noah's junior heavyweight championships. Cross promotional appearances and feud with Stinger (2022)[]
During April 2022, a trio Metal Warriors appeared in Dragon Gate, kidnapping Gold Class' Minorita, leading to a match between Minorita and one of the three Metal Warriors. On April 25, one of the three Metal Warriors faced Minorita in a winning effort. After the match, the trio was revealed to be Eita, Rongai and Suzuki, who challenged Gold Class (Naruki Doi, Kaito Ishida and Kota Minoura) to a title match for the Open The Triangle Gate Championship. On April 29 at Majestic, Eita lost the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship to HAYATA. On May 5 at Dead or Alive, Eita, Rongai and Suzuki defeated Naruki Doi, Kaito Ishida and Kota Minoura to win the Open The Triangle Gate Championship. Following the match, Rongai revealed that his contract with NOAH had expired, leading the stable to move to permanently to Dragon Gate, with the remaining members leaving the stable, following their last appearances for NOAH.
On May 11, Rongai and Suzuki interfered in a match between Gold Class (Naruki Doi, Kaito Ishida and Kota Minoura) and Takuma Fujiwara, Ishin Iihashi and La Estrella, and caused the match to be a no-contest, in an attempt to make a statement. Rongai and Suzuki's anticts drew the ire of Dragon Gate's General Manager Ryo Saito, who furiously questioned their intentions to get a job, which they begged. After scolding them, Saito ordered a match to be held immediately, with them facing Doi and Minorita in a winning effort. Following the match, both men started a job-hunt with Rongai asking about their next match. Afterwards, Eita appeared and faced Shun Skywalker in a losing effort in the first-round of the 2022 King of Gate. On May 21, Perros made a surprise return to NOAH, attacking Stinger members Chris Ridgeway, Yoshinari Ogawa, Seiki Yoshioka and Yuya Susumu, during a title match for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. Afterwards, Rongai announced that their decision to return to NOAH was made out of jealousy of Stinger's championship success, leading Perros to nominate Stinger as their next challengers to the Open The Triangle Gate Championship. On June 7, Perros lost the Open The Triangle Gate Championship to Stinger's Seiki Yoshioka, Yoshinari Ogawa and Yuya Susumu, before regaining the titles after defeating Atsushi Kotoge, Extreme Tiger, and YO-HEY on June 23. They lost the titles to M3K (Masaaki Mochizuki, Mochizuki Junior and Susumu Mochizuki) on July 30 at Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival.
On November 23 at Noah the Best, after concluding their feud with Stinger's Yoshinari Ogawa, Rongai decided to disband the stable, due to his eminent retirement from professional wrestling on February 21, 2023.
Reception[]
Similiar to the reaction of Los Ingobernables de Japón in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), after Rongai copied the Los Perros del Mal concept he had seen in Mexico, the stable became very popular within the Pro Wrestling Noah audience, with their shirts selling out within a day.
