The Memorial Gate in Sendai (2017) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and GAORA TV event promoted by Dragon Gate (DG). The event took place on November 26, 2017, in Sendai at the Sendai Sun Festa. It was done a Memorial Gate in this year under the name Memorial Gate in Wakayama. However, in the following year, the event was rebranded as The Gate of Origin.
The main event featured an Open The Triangle Gate Championship match between Tribe Vanguard (YAMATO, BxB Hulk and Kzy) against VerserK (Shingo Takagi, Yasushi Kanda and Eita).
Production[]
The Memorial Gate in Sendai aired in Japan through Dragon Gate's internet streaming site, Niconico, with Japanese language commentaries. The Japanese commentary was provided by Katsuya Ichikawa. The event also aired on tape delay on Japanese TV Gaora Sports to be launched in Dragon Gate's ~ Infinity ~ Series. The full match card was later announced on November 15.
Storylines[]
On November 3 at Gate of Destiny Tribe Vanguard (YAMATO, BxB Hulk and Kzy) won the Open The Triangle Gate Championship by defeating VerserK's (Shingo Takagi, El Lindaman and Takashi Yoshida). The match also included MaxiMuM's (Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi and Kotoka). Following the title match, Dragon Gate announced that VerserK's Takagi and Yasushi Kanda and the newest member of VerserK would face Tribe Vanguard for the titles. Kanda recently joined VerserK on November 5 turning on his former Jimmyz Jimmy Susumu at the final day Farewell Jimmyz Gate tour. The identity of the newest member of VerserK was kept in secret until November 8 after Eita rejoined VerserK after turning on Dragon Kid, revealing to be their newest member.
