Storylines[]
The Memorial Gate in Wakayama (2023) featured professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing feuds and storylines that played out on the Dragon Gate's television program. Wrestlers portrayed heroes or villains as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.

Big Time (Kzy and Big Boss Shimizu), who defended the Open The Twin Gate Championship at the main event
The Memorial Gate in Wakayama (2023) was main evented by Natural Vibes (Big Boss Shimizu and Kzy) defending the Open The Twin Gate Championship against M3K (Masaaki Mochizuki and Mochizuki Junior). In February, Masaaki Mochizuki began a storyline with his father, where Masaaki has insisted that his son Mochizuki Junior needed him, and he wass not ready to be on his own in big matches without him yet. Using Junior's failed title challenge alongside Yasushi Kanda and Susumu Mochizuki on March 4 at Champion Gate in Osaka as proof. Junior on the other hand refused his dad help, as he wants to get stronger on his own. Masaaki was earned the title match, following a victory over Natural Vibes, on March 11, with Kzy and Shimizu accepting Masaaki's title challenge at Memorial Gate.

YAMATO, who defended the Ryuo Championship at the event
In March, Don Fujii began feuding with Mochizuki Junior. After scoring two victories over Junior in two tag team matches alongside Yoshiki Kato and Kaito Nagano, respectively, Fujii decided to challenge for the Open The Triangle Gate Championship, alongside them, on March 12, which Kato and Nagano accepted, leading General Manager Ryo Saito to make the match official.
On February 12, Teelan Shisa defeated Gurukun Mask in the finals to win the 2023 Gasakae Tournament, earning a shot at the Ryukyu Dragon Pro Wrestling's Ryuo Championship. On March 2, Shisa made an appearance at Dragon Gate, challenging YAMATO to a title match for the Ryuo Championship at Memorial Gate.
