Momo Kohgo (向後桃 Kōgo Momo), is a Japanese professional wrestler currently working for the Japanese promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom. She is also known for her time in Ice Ribbon and Actwres girl'Z.
Besides wrestling, Kohgo was also an actress, part of the CINEMACT.
Early life[]
From the age of 10 to 22 years old, she played basketball, where she was part of the Saitama Prefectural Basketball Team.
In 2016, despite a successful performing career such as becoming the Miss Shonan Contest, she developed Graves' disease and suffered a loss of weight and strength. After taking medication for its disease, she began to recover her weight and strength. After seeing an event on television, she decided to become a professional wrestler. She then joined the Actwres girl'Z dojo and made her professional wrestling debut on April 30, 2019.
Professional wrestling career[]
Actwres girl'Z (2019–2021)[]
Kohgo made her professional wrestling debut on April 30, 2019, at Actwres girl'Z show AWG Actwres girl'Z In Korakuen where she fell short to Noa Igarashi. During her time in the promotion, she challenged for various titles such as the AWG Tag Team Championship by teaming up with Momo Tani at AWG Act 54 on September 25, 2021, in a losing effort against Kakeru Sekiguchi and Miku Aono.
Japanese independent circuit (2019–2021)[]
Beginning as a freelancer, Kohgo is known for competing in multiple promotions of the Japanese independent scene. She competed in one of Pro Wrestling Wave's signature events, the 2021 Young Block Oh! Oh! division of the Catch the Wave tournament where she competed in the "Block A", scoring a total of two points after going against Tomoka Inaba, Ami Miura and Shizuku Tsukata. At New Ice Ribbon #1013 ~ RibbonMania 2019, an event promoted by Ice Ribbon on December 30, 2019, Kohgo competed in Tequila Saya's retirement 44-person gauntlet match which ended in a time-limit draw. She is also known for competing in the "P's Party" branch of events. At Ice Ribbon P's Party #75 on May 19, 2021, she fell short to Madeline in a number one contender's match for the IW19 Championship.
Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (2021)[]
In the autumn of 2021, Kohgo had an excursion to Mexico, where she competed in several events promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. She participated in the CMLL Women's Grand Prix, teaming up with Tsukasa Fujimoto and Tsukushi as "Team Japan" and competing against Team Mexico (Marcela, La Amapola, La Jarochita, Princesa Sugehit, Dark Silueta, Lluvia, and Reyna Isis) and Team World (Dalys la Caribeña, Avispa Dorada, Stephanie Vaquer and Sonya).
World Wonder Ring Stardom (2022–present)[]
On January 23, 2022, Kohgo made her debut in Stardom, requesting STARS members to let her join the stable, which the latters accepted. On February 23, Stardom Cinderella Journey, Kohgo unsuccessfully challenged stablemate Hanan for the Future of Stardom Championship. At Stardom Cinderella Tournament 2022, Kohgo unsucessfully faced stablemate Mayu Iwatani in the first round matches from April 3. On July 9, 2022 at Mid Summer Champions in Tokyo, in the first event of the Stardom Mid Summer Champions series, Kohgo unsuccessfully challenged AZM for the High Speed Championship. Kohgo failed to qualify for the Stardom 5 Star Grand Prix 2022 after she participated in a qualifier block where she scored a total of four points after facing Ami Sourei, Miyu Amasaki, Rina and Waka Tsukiyama.
On April 28, NJPW announced the creation of the Strong Women's Championship, with it being contested in a singles-elimination tournament and with the bracket being revealed on the same day. The tournament featured Kohgo, CMLL's Stephanie Vaquer, Mercedes Mone and AEW's Willow Nightingale. On May 21, at Resurgence, Kohgo lost in the semifinals to the eventual winner Willow Nightingale.
On July 31, 2023, Kohgo challenged Giulia to a title match for the Strong Women's Championship in order to fullfil her promise to Willow Nightingale, with Giulia stating her promise to be meaningless to her before berating and bullying Kohgo. Shortly after, Kohgo, disguised in cosplay, challenged Giulia for the title. On August 20 at Multiverse United 2, Kohgo failed to win a four-way match for the Strong Women's Championship, with Kohgo being pinned by Giulia.
Personal life[]
Kohgo is fluent in English and also serves as an interpreter during Stardom's press conferences.
She is also a fan of Saki Kashima, when asked whether she wanted Kashima's photo book or the winning points in the 5★STAR GP after she defeated her, she chose Kashima's photo book. Even though, Kohgo won both Kashima's photo book and her points during the tournament.
