Sengoku Lord in Nagoya was a professional wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). The event took place on April 20, 2019 at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium between the larger G1 Supercard and Wrestling Dontaku events. The event is available at NJPW's streaming website NJPW World.

The event featured eight matches, two of which were contested for championships. The main evented featured Kota Ibushi defending the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Zack Sabre Jr. The event also featured Juice Robinson defending the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against Bad Luck Fale.

On January 4, 2019, during Wrestle Kingdom 13 in Tokyo Dome, NJPW officially announced the show for August 31, 2019, taking place at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium. The event was officially named "Sengoku Lord in Nagoya".

Storylines[]

Sengoku Lord in Nagoya featured professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.

Sengoku Lord in Nagoya was headlined by Kota Ibushi making his first defense of the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Zack Sabre Jr. On April 6 at G1 Supercard, after Ibushi defeated Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, he nominated Sabre to be his first challenger of the title. Sabre had previously defeated Ibushi in the second round of the 2019 New Japan Cup on March 16. Sabre and Ibushi had also previously faced each other three times, with Ibushi scoring two wins over Sabre, while Sabre has only defeated Ibushi once during the 2018 New Japan Cup, which Sabre won the tournament. The title match was officially announced on April 8.

In the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship match, Juice Robinson who made his third title defense against Bad Luck Fale. During the 2019 New Japan Cup, Robinson feuded with Fale's Bullet Club Chase Owens, after Robinson was knocked out of the tournament by Owens in the first round. On March 24, after Robinson successfully defended the title against Owens, Fale attacked Robinson until Mikey Nicholls made the save. In a post-match interview, Fale made known his intentions of challenging Robinson for his title. The title match was officially announced on April 8. Also announced was a match between Owens and Nicholls.
