The WEW Openweight Championship is a the top singles championship in the Pro Wrestling A-TEAM (A-TEAM) promotion. The title was created on March 3, 2017 following the creation of A-TEAM and after the WEW Heavyweight Championship being retired at in the Apache Pro Wrestling Army, which the promotion later succeeded in A-TEAM.

The creation of the title was announced on March 3, 2017, with the inaugural championship match taking place on April 19, 2018 which saw Daisaku Shimoda defeating Blue Shark to become the inaugural champion. This is the ninth title under the WEW name, although WEW means World Entertainment Wrestling, WEW closed in 2004 and the title is not part of WEW.

History

On December 25, 2017 at Apache Pro Wrestling Army's last show it was announced that Kintaro Kanemura would be the last WEW Heavyweight Champion. Following the announcement, Tetsuhiro Kuroda and HASEGAWA announced the creation of A-TEAM (Apache Pro's successor). This led A-TEAM on March 3, 2017, announcing the creation of the championship, replacing the WEW Heavyweight Championship. Unlike the WEW Heavyweight Championship, the title is not specified to a certain division due to being an openweight championship. On April 19, 2018 Daisaku Shimoda defeating Blue Shark in a decision match to become the first WEW Openweight Champion.

The title belt shares a similar design to the WEW Junior Heavyweight Championship, the only differences between the titles are that the title has a black strap and the word Openweight in the middle.
