On January 15, 2024, Sakaguchi announced his retirement from professional wrestling, Sakaguchi stated his reason for retiring was a personal matter and Sanshiro Takagi wanted Sakaguchi to reconsider and tried to pursuade him to stay, but he refused, with his retirement match being against HARASHIMA on February 7, which he lost.
